Summary
Develop the skillsets needed to guide the delivery of value in a Lean enterprise by becoming a SAFe 5 Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM). During this two-day course, attendees gain an in-depth understanding of how to effectively perform their role in the Agile Release Train (ART) as it delivers value through Program Increments. Attendees explore how to apply Lean thinking to decompose Epics into Features and Stories, refine Features and Stories, manage Program and Team backlogs, and to plan and execute Iterations and Program Increments. Attendees also discover how the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps culture contribute to the relentless improvement of the ART.
Carmen is a Scaled Agile Framework Professional Consultant (SPC5) who specializes in coaching highly regulated organizations to adopt a Lean/Agile mindset, leading to higher quality products and unleashing organizational creativity. She is a founding member of the Software Engineering Institute’s Agile Collaboration Group (SEI ACG), which provides a forum for the sharing of experience and knowledge about applying Agile practices within the Federal Government.
Carmen began her Lean/Agile journey more than ten years ago as a United States Marine Corps employee, where she championed the implementation of Agile practices. She discovered her passion for coaching and teaching when she led the effort to develop the first Marine Corps Agile Framework (MC-Agile).
In addition to her work with the Marine Corps, Carmen provides transformational coaching and training to large organizations in the entertainment, insurance, and banking industries as well as the US Army and the Library of Congress.
Lonnie Weaver-Johnson is a Certified Scrum Trainer®, independent Agile coach. Her focus is helping leaders and teams create an environment of openness and trust, resulting in higher engagement and more value being delivered through increased accountability. As a coach she helps design agile organizations, enabling healthy and productive teams. She has more than 25 years leading teams, developing people, and transitioning organizations to Agile. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in Communications. In her spare time, she enjoys family time, volunteering with her local animal rescue community, and spending time in her garden.
Prerequisites
All are welcome to attend the course, regardless of experience. However, the following prerequisites are highly recommended for those who intend to take the SAFe 5 Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification exam:
- Attend a Leading SAFe course
- Experience working in a SAFe environment
- Experience with Lean, Agile, or other relevant certifications
Exam Deails
All are welcome to attend the course, regardless of experience.
- Exam name – SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager Exam
- Exam format – Multiple choice , multiple response
- Exam delivery – Web-based (single-browser), closed book, no outside assistance, timed
- Exam access – Candidates can access to the exam within the SAFe Community Platform upon completion of your SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager course.
- Exam duration – Once the exam begins, candidates have 90 minutes (1.5 hours) to complete the exam.
- Number of questions – 45
- Passing score – POPM4 = 35 out of 45 (77%); POPM5 = 33 out of 45 (73%)
- Language – English
- Exam cost – First exam attempt is included as part of the course registration fee if the exam is taken within 30 days of course completion. Each retake attempt costs $50.
- Retake policy – Second attempt on exam (first retake) can be done immediately after first attempt. Third attempt requires a 10-day wait. Fourth attempt requires a 30-day wait.

What is the annual renewal fee?
- Certifications expire one year from the date the certification is earned.
- Renewal fee is $100
What is the cancellation policy on this?
In order to provide the most experienced instructors and a superior classroom environment, we must ask you to adhere to our cancellation policy. If it is necessary to cancel or reschedule this registration, please notify us immediately. Our cancellation policy is as follows:
- A full refund can be claimed 30 days prior to the class start date.
- No refund will be allowed within 30 days from the class start date, however students may reschedule to another class within one year of the cancellation date.
- No reschedules allowed within 7 business days unless its an unforeseen circumstances.
- In the event any cancellation occurred due to low enrollment or unforeseen natural events, ATC will issue a 100% refund.

What about Professional Development Units (PDUs) and Scrum educational units?
Attendees may be eligible to apply for 15 PDUs toward their continuing education requirements with the Project Management Institute (PMI) for PMP, PgMP, and PMI-ACP certifications. Also, attendees may be eligible to apply for SEUs under category C, toward earning or renewing their CSP through Scrum Alliance.
